1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using StoryVerse ("the Service", "Platform", "Site"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Service Description

StoryVerse is a privacy-first storytelling platform that allows users to:

• Create and share written stories and posts
• Comment on and engage with other users' content
• Vote on posts (upvote/downvote)
• Filter and search content by tags, authors, and keywords
• Use the platform anonymously without registration

3. User Accounts & Anonymous Identity

3.1 Anonymous Usernames

StoryVerse generates random, anonymous usernames for all users. These usernames are stored locally in your browser and are not linked to any personal information.

3.2 Identity Management

You can reset your anonymous identity at any time through your profile menu. Your previous posts will remain but will be associated with your old username.

3.3 No Personal Data Required

We do not require or collect email addresses, phone numbers, real names, or any personally identifiable information to use the Service.

4. Community Guidelines

When using StoryVerse, you agree not to:

• Post spam, advertisements, or promotional content
• Share content that contains external links (for user safety)
• Post hateful, abusive, threatening, or harmful content
• Harass, bully, or intimidate other users
• Post sexually explicit or graphic violent content
• Impersonate others or engage in deceptive practices
• Share copyrighted material without permission
• Attempt to manipulate voting or engagement systems
• Post malicious code or attempt to hack the platform
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations

5. Content Ownership & Licensing

5.1 Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content you post on StoryVerse, including stories, comments, and other contributions.

5.2 License Grant

By posting content, you grant StoryVerse a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

• Display and distribute your content on the platform
• Store your content in our database
• Make your content available to other users
• Create backups for service reliability

5.3 Content Removal

You can delete your posts and comments at any time. Deleted content will be removed from public view but may remain in backups for a limited period.

6. Voting & Engagement

Users can vote on posts and comments. Voting data is stored anonymously and cannot be traced to individual users beyond their anonymous username. Attempting to manipulate votes through automated systems or multiple accounts is prohibited.

7. Moderation & Content Removal

7.1 Automated Moderation

StoryVerse employs automated content filtering to detect and remove spam, external links, and potentially harmful content.

7.2 User Reporting

Users can report content that violates these Terms. We review reported content and take appropriate action.

7.3 Removal Rights

We reserve the right to remove any content that:

• Violates these Terms or community guidelines
• Is reported by users and deemed inappropriate
• Poses a legal risk to the platform
• Compromises the safety or experience of other users

8. Prohibited Uses

You may not:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the platform
• Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service
• Harvest or collect user data without permission
• Use automated systems (bots) without authorization
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions

9. Third-Party Services

StoryVerse uses Firebase (Google) for data storage and hosting. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your content is stored on Firebase's servers, subject to their terms and privacy policies.

10. Sharing & Social Features

The platform includes sharing buttons for social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, LinkedIn, WhatsApp). These features open external websites and are subject to those platforms' terms and privacy policies.

11. Dark Mode & Preferences

User preferences (such as dark mode settings) are stored locally in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.

12. Intellectual Property

12.1 Platform Content

The StoryVerse name, logo, design, and code are owned by StoryVerse and protected by copyright and trademark laws.

12.2 User Content

Users are solely responsible for ensuring they have the right to post their content and that it does not infringe on others' intellectual property rights.

13. Disclaimers

StoryVerse is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free service
• Accuracy or reliability of user-generated content
• Permanent storage of content
• Protection against all harmful content

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StoryVerse shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Loss of data, profits, or goodwill
• User-generated content or interactions between users
• Third-party services or external links

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold StoryVerse harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Content you post on the platform

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

17. Termination

We reserve the right to:

• Suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms
• Remove content at our discretion
• Discontinue the Service at any time

18. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration.
